Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at KOOLA Art Space! Our gallery, located in Kallio, Helsinki, is operated by Taidetila Koola ry, a non-profit artist-driven association. Exhibition fees cover venue rental during exhibitions, while all other work is done on a volunteer basis. To ensure smooth operations, we ask visiting artists to carefully review and commit to the following guidelines
Venue Information
Our exhibition space is located at Pengerkatu 9, Kallio. The space measures approximately 24m², with a total hanging space of 30m²: two walls of 4.6m x 3m each, and a hanging panel of 1.5m x 2.5m for lighter works. A floor plan is available here. Important note: The space has no backroom for storage of packaging materials or personal belongings
Supervision
Taidetila Koola ry staff supervises all exhibitions. The exhibition fee includes supervision 4 days per week during regular hours on Saturday 12:00-15:00, Monday 15:00-18:00, Tuesday 13:00-16:00, and Wednesday 13:00-16:00. Additional supervision days can be purchased for 50€ per shift (gallery is closed on Sundays). Opening events can be arranged outside regular hours. For two-week exhibitions with a Saturday opening, normal hours begin Monday, with an additional Friday opening included
Openings
Opening times are arranged individually with each artist. Events must not exceed 2.5 hours and must end by 19:30. All events must comply with building regulations (no music allowed) and adhere to fire safety capacity limits. The space provides a table and chairs. Note: There are no kitchen facilities or storage space available
Publicity and Materials
Taidetila Koola ry will promote exhibitions on our social media channels, list events in common event directories, and create digital marketing materials. Artists must provide exhibition information in advance and are welcome to conduct additional promotion. Artists are responsible for printing artwork labels and other materials. An A3 street-level advertising stand is available for artist-provided posters
Exhibition Agreement
The exhibition agreement is signed electronically between the artist and Taidetila Koola ry. It takes effect upon signing and payment of exhibition fee, covers setup, exhibition period, and dismantling, and does not include sales commission as artists handle their own sales
Cancellation Policy
In case of artist cancellation, no fee refund will be provided. If Taidetila KOOLA ry cancels, a full fee refund will be issued
Exhibition Setup and Dismantling
Artists are responsible for installation and removal, which must occur within the exhibition period. Basic tools (hammer, tape measure, level) and drilling equipment (by advance request) are available on-site. Artists must provide their own hanging materials (nails, tape, etc), use nails or installation tape (drilling requires advance approval), repair walls to original condition, and remove all works by 21:00 on the final day. A 150€ cleaning/storage fee applies if works are left behind or wall damage isn't repaired
Insurance and Responsibilities
Artists are responsible for insuring their works, as Taidetila Koola ry does not provide artwork insurance. Artists are liable for any damage to gallery property during setup/dismantling. Taidetila KOOLA ry is not liable for external damage
